HMRC phishing emails

BEWARE OF THE SPAM EMAILS FROM ‘HMRC’.

There has been a recent spate of scam emails being sent to members of the team here at Burton Beavan that give the impression that they originate for official HMRC sources. Examples of some of the items received are shown below.

Whilst the prospect of an unexpected repayment might be appealing or an amendment to a tax coding intriguing, neither communication is in reality what it claims to be.

HMRC NEVER sends out communications of this type via email. Their email output is very limited and they NEVER ask for personal or banking details.

No matter how convincing the appearance, DO NOT RESPOND OR CLICK ON LINKS in emails of this type.  Instead please, prior to deleting it, forward the offending item to HMRC using the email address below:

 phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
